"Seek not to declare my word, but first seek to obtain my word, and then shall your tongue be loosed; then, if you desire, you shall have my Spirit and my word, yea, the power of God unto the convincing of men." - D&C 11:21

For I came down from heaven, not to do my own will, but the will of him that sent me.

- John 6:38

God has infinite attention… You’re as much alone with Him as if you were the only thing He’d ever created.

A philosopher will seek after truth, but an astronomer will just take what is simplest. And neither will find truth unless it has been divinely revealed to him.

- Andreas Osiander

The heart has its reasons, which reason does not know. We feel it in a thousand things. It is the heart which experiences God, and not the reason. This, then, is faith: God felt by the heart, not by the reason.

- Blaise Pascal

thecourtneylee asked: It is worth being a Christian not only because for eternity you get to be with your Creator who loves you, but also because here on earth, you get 100% satisfaction, you get joy (very different than happiness), and you get to share the love. Yes, Christians often get persecuted, but in the end, no remark a goof made will ever match up with the love, joy, and satisfaction that makes your life complete. Life is a gift. I choose to live it with those three things...oh, and heaven for eternity :)

This too :)

There is so much about eternity as well that we as Christians believe. We can be with our creator and with our loved ones forever. We can achieve our purpose and become whole and complete in heaven. There are countless rewards that we will get in heaven (provided we do certain things in this life) that we probably can’t even imagine!

There is just so much to say about this that it’s hard to think of them all coherently.

stryct asked: why is it worth to be a christian?

Why is it worth it to be a Christian? Wow, that’s a big question. I’m not going to be able to answer that very well here. I’ll try to give some points, but maybe if you narrow it down a little and ask some more specific questions it’ll be easier for me to give some good answers. There is a book called “What is the Point of Being a Christian” by Timothy Radcliffe, which does a pretty good job of answering that question.

I don’t even know where to begin really. It’s not something like the YMCA where you can sit down and think, “hmm well the membership costs this month for this long, but I’ll be getting all of these classes so maybe that’s worth it… I guess I’ll sign up for a year and see how it goes.” Christianity makes BIG claims about reality. About the universe we live in, about us as a species and as individuals and about our purpose here. Christianity is a matter of truth. Why is it worth it to be a Christian? Well, because it is true.

I really don’t know what else to say without thinking out an entire essay or book, because there could be any number of questions behind yours. If you want a better answer, please ask me more questions.
